Two weeks ago Parker started taking swim lessons and after just two lessons she began swimming! Her instructor Mrs. Ship has been teaching kids to swim for over 60 years. Her instructor wass a Navy seal, so you can imagine what the classes are like.

Parker, Julie and I went swimming today at Jazmines pool for over an hour. Gotta keep preacticing. Check out the video for her swimming to me from one side of the pool to the other.

For those of you who don't know, Parker's birthday is approaching. Several weeks ago she told Grandma Karen and Grandpa Nick that she would like a new bed. After searching online for the better part of 2 hours over several days, she decided on a Little Pink Corvette! We contacted Grandma Karen And Grandpa Nick and within several days one of the largest boxes ever delivered arrived on Friday. We were glad the delivery guy brought it in the house. When Julie called me to inform me that the gift had arrived, she said it seemed more like a sarcophagus containing an Egyptian mummy than a bed.

As you can tell from the video, Parker is quite excited. Like her mother, she was happy to get the gift early and happy that it was something of her own choosing.

Thank you Grandma Karen and Grandpa Nick. See you at the party! Don't forget your fishing rod.

Yesterday I celebrated my third Father's Day and my dad's 41st, sorry Gregory. By the way, how are the forties treating you?

Anyway, we went to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park to relax and eat. In attendance were, Bubba Greg and Annie Girl; The Little Man, Josh; Julie Sita, PacAttack and myself (Captain Gordito). The name will make sense after I tell you what I ate! Six drum sticks, 3 hot dogs, 2 cheeseburgers, 2 slices of watermelon and 2 sodas, pop for those in Pa.
Check out Colbin & Josh in the water! Josh's 4th Father's Day. While Bubba Greg cooked, I headed out for a snorkel and took some photos of the marine life. Calamari anyone.

The video below was taken in about 10 feet of water. I tracked several gray angelfish and an assortment of other fish. Julie tells me that there is no reason for her to go snorkeling if I continue to bring back such great footage. As you will be able to see, the area has some good activity.

Below we have Parker with a large decorator sea urchin I found.

Probably saved him from the Southern Stingray on the prowl below.

Today we celebrated Gram's birthday. It was a fun time had by all who attended. Even more fun once the kids got ahold of the cake!

The surprise gift of the evening was this beautiful accordian. Thank you Autumn, great listening Bubba Greg.

I enjoyed the accordian as well, Colbin enjoyed all of the peanuts that came in the packaging.

Just in time for summer, the Curry's have another pool! I know what alot of you are thinking, "won't be long until there are fish swimming in it". Not this time I tell you. As you can tell, Parker nd Colbin couldn't wait for it fill.

Honestly, I couldn't either!

The question below is, how long til the big guy goes over the edge and empties 700 gallons of water? I am happy to say that it was not today.

Once or twice or a month we make a trip to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park for a day of relaxation. As you can see, Parker has the relaxation part down. Wonder what that little mind is thinking as she looks out into the Atlantic Ocean. In case you are wondering, Fort Zachary has the best beach and swimming available on the island.Whether it is lounging on the water or on the beach, Parker has got it down. Thank you Autumn for the beach chairs!
Speaking of best swimming, just off of the jetties is an artificial reef with lots of sea life ranging from tropical fish, corals and of course grouper. I am sure all of the grouper are aware that they are safe in the protected waters of the state park as collection is prohibited.
I think we are going today, definently next week for our annual Father's Day picnic.

On Friday, June 12th, 2009 Key West High graduated its 102nd class. This class was special for Julie as several of the graduates were in her first class back in 1999 - third grade at Poinciana Elementary. There were 269 graduates in all. Hard to believe 17 years have passed since we graduated from high school.

The night started out dry, but as you can tell, turned wet. One of the biggest down pours of the year cleared the stands of about 800 people. Not us though! That is Jose holding a program over Mrs. Curry trying to keep her dry. In all actuality though, Julie was not going anywhere until she saw all of her students receive their diplomas!
After the ceremony was over, we walked out onto the grounds at Tommy Roberts Memorial Stadium and found one of Julie's students - Morgan Fraga. I don't know who was happier!
Congratulations to all the graduates. We will be back next year.

Just finished celebrating the 27th Anniversary of Conch Republic Independence. Julie, Parker & I went down to Mallory Square for the "Bloody Battle" and guess what...we won again. While we were there we took in some sights while the battle for independence was taking place in Key West Harbor. As you can see the MG's made it down this year, however my was not in the show. Something about the brakes and fuel line not working. Maybe next year.

As the Conch Republic Navy engaged the U.S Coast Guard...

the Conch Republic Air Force was providing aerial support... to be followed up with the eventual surrender as the Conch Republic Army got in one last shot...

Way back on the first of March Julie & I took Parker Anne on her first fishing trip. We drove up to Sugarloaf and went fishing from one of the old bridges from US 1. With her trusty rod and reel in hand we headed out for a day of fun. Check out this action shot,

followed by one of the biggest smiles we have ever seen.

The Stay Fit Cycling Crew!

Well, we did it! Completed the 2 day, 165 mile bike ride from Miami, Fl. to Key West, Fl on November 14-15, 2008. The picture of me below was taken an hour or two after arriving in Key West and having the closing ceremonies on White Street Pier.

Now for the physical toll on my body- drank 20 , 24 oz bottles of water and gatorade; ate 4 turkey sandwiches, 6 energy bars, 5 bananas, 3 oranges and oh nearly forgot, took 4 ibuprofen. That was during the 100 mile or Century section of the ride. Burned an estimated 6000 calories that first day! The second day, just as much water and gatorade several PB covered bagels an enormous egg & chz croissant and 4 more ibuprofens. Everybody takes the ibu's. Below is a picture of me at one of the pit stops for day one.

The picture below is from the closing ceremony at White Street Pier. Believe it not,5 pounds lighter weighing in at 217lbs. Even with all the eating & drinking, I still managed to lose 5 pounds.

A special thank you to my parents for bringing me a replacement contact lens after losing one 7 miles into the ride. What a bummer that was! My wife Julie for having to wake up early on Sunday mornings as I would head out of the house by 6:45am for rides until noonish. For Parker Anne for not making it too hard on her mommy all those early mornings. For all of the support from the Stay Fit Cyclers! This year Julie dressed Parker in traditional Chinese attire.

Parker will be representing a new country next year. Any ideas will

be considered. It did take her several stops to get comfortable with

Trick or Treating. Once she did, she started selecting her own candies

and turning her nose up to anything that wasn't chocolate! She is her

momma's daughter. Thank for stopping by. By the way, Parker is now

36 inches tall-more than half of her momma.

Marcelina Marie Curry. The daughter of Amia & Gregory Curry. She was born on Tuesday, October 14th 2008 at 6:52am. She weighed 5lb 15oz and is 18.5 inches in length. She is the 4th grandchild of Greg and Annie. The third granddaughter.

Yesterday Grandma Karen & Grandpa Nick came all the to Key West from Fort Lauderdale to see Parker, Julie & I. Once arriving, they presented Parker Anne with a Dora Tea Party set. Parker invited everyone for a Tea Party and a surprise birthday party for Baby Brooke. Baby Brooke is wearing the green cup as a birthday hat!

As you can see, it was quite a Tea Party! Obviously, no Tea Party is complete without some fried Key West Chicken.

At around 4pm today people all around Mallory Square were looking into the sky at this waterspout which formed from a pretty fast moving cluster of storms. I took this video from the Key West Shipwreck Historeum Tower. The waterspout lasted for several minutes while the cluster of storms moved North.

This picture shows the waterspout as it began to dissipate. The only thing I forgot to do was holler, "Wreck Ashore".

Back in May I signed up to ride in the Smart Ride 2008. The ride is from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl to Key West, Fl for AIDS Awareness. For more info check out the link http://www.thesmartride.org/3/. The ride takes place on Nov 14 & 15 of this year. I have begun training, as you might imagine 165 miles in 2 days is alot. So far, my longest ride is 60 miles. I ride with the group pictured below. In this shot we are at Baby's Coffee, the first of several stops on our Sunday training rides. That is me third from the right! Yes, I do wear the tight shorts and shirt, funny shoes and a helmet.

In signing up for the ride, I pledge to raise over $1250.00. All of which is used locally. If you would like to make a pledge (family required, no matter how distant). You can be as far away as Utah, Toronto, Pa. (PennSYLvania takes up alot of space), New Jersey, Maine, Nova Scotia. You get it I think. If you only have a couple of $$$$ fine. Today Julie, Parker, Lynly, Josh, Colbin and I went to the County Jail to visit the animal farm which is run by our friend Jeanne Selander. Jeanne takes care of animals which have been claimed by law enforcement and several other groups. The farm is open to the public every other Sunday from 1 to 3pm. Some photos below...

So in case you hadn't heard, Julie, Parker & I evacuated for Hurricane Ike several weeks ago. First time for me. We went to Disney with many other Kaunches. We spent 3 days and as you can tell from the photos we had a great time. First, the 3 of us went on the merry go round. One of P's fav's. That is only a sippie cup of P's juice I am holding.

The next day we went to the Animal Kingdom to comb goats.

Parker really loved the goats, particularly when they pooped!

I would say, from this look, it looks like we are in for one heck of a ride with this little lady!

And at the end of it all, one little sleepy head. Actually, three sleepy heads.

Has it really been since mid April since our last update. We are either lazy, or exceptionally busy. Exceptionally busy, definently. Photos and stories of the last 4 months are on the way. Well in case you hadn't heard, here is the picture that says a thousand words. Yes, that is a cast. The "Little Man" suffered a spiral fracture on his lower left leg Monday. He is under excellent care and in approximately 4 to 6 weeks will be back to normal. All I gotta say is he is one tough kid. He has taken it a lot better that most people I know who have suffered breaks and fractures. Of course, by now you are wondering how it happened. It was a freak accident while playing (supervised) on the trampoline. Research has shown that actually more than half of the 75,ooo kids bouncing their way from trampolines to the ER every year were supervised. Hopefully this won't slow him down for too long, afterall summer is right around the corner. We love you Colbin!

Happy Halloween. Tonight we went trick or treating with Jose, Crystal and Jazmin. Jazmin went as a Night Fairy and Parker Anne as a Ballerina. Nice shoes eh? As a first timer, she did pretty well. Instead of carrying a bag though, we had her carry candy in her hands. By the end of the night it was all liquid chocolate. At least it was packaged. After staying out well after bedtime we eventually made it back home just in time before a rain band from deadly Tropical Storm Noel. You can tell she was quite pooped. By the way (a shameless plug) if you like Parker Anne's costume, my sister sells them at The Dance Studio. Told you it was shameless! Good night all. Thought it cool to make this entry on Halloween. This past weekend the little ones made a trip to Bayview Park. To mark this occasion, we brought the "Mars Rover" stroller. That's the one pictured on the left. I call it the "Mars Rover" only because it looks like something that NASA would use. The stroller was the hit of the festival. Every kid wanted to sit in it and every parent wanted one, just kidding. The babies liked it, being able to take things away from one another. We are actually thinking of creating a pulling harness to make it easier to pull.

Afterwards, we headed to the playground area and as you can see enjoyed making faces through the bubble and using the slide.

This past Friday the 24th, I took Parker Anne and Julie to their first Key West High School football game. To commemorate the occasion, Julie took a picture of Parker and I with our friend and fellow Conch George Galvan. I am happy to say that Parker and Julie enjoyed themselves. I took Julie up to the press box area to see many Conch Alumni. Unfortunately, the Conchs lost the game 50 to 0. They played a 6A powerhouse from Fort Lauderdale. We had a great time and can't wait for the next home game. As a matter of fact, Julie even suggested we should go to an away game! Yeah right!

Today was the start of our much anticipated holiday. The day started out with bad croissants and continued from that point. After arriving at Miami International Airport 2 hours ahead of our flight, we sat down in concourse H waiting for the 1:20pm boarding call. When the plane hadn't showed up by 1:30pm I began to think something was not right. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 1:50pm. We were finally boarded and pulled away at 2:15 and proceded to sit on the runway, in position one for the next THREE hours! We pulled back into the concourse and began to offload passengers who wanted off. We wanted off as all of our flights were now canceled. I don't want to carry on too much more, but need to conclude by saying that tomorrow is another day and we have a change of clothes. The picture you see is one of Julie and Parker sitting while I was standing in line for over an hour attempting to rebook our flight. Cest La Vie!

Today we celebrated the 4th of July. Parker Anne and Julie joined me at work for hot dogs and hamburgers and of course some mint chip ice cream. The girls' favorite! After work we went to Jose and Crystal's place for swimming and yes, more hot dogs and hamburgers. Watching my caloric intact, I did not eat any hot dog buns. Celebrated Parker Anne's 1st birthday yesterday. The day started out a little rough for the little lady. Two hours before the event she became sick and extremely tired. Like the champ she is though, an hour into the party she was laughing, smiling and as you can tell enjoying her Key Lime Cupcake and mint chip ice cream. As I said in the last update, we visited the Grandparents at Fort Lauderdale Beach and attended the Air & Sea Show. This was very exciting for all us, although Parker slept through most of it. (Kind of like Gregory at a Michael Jackson concert). Anyhow, the Thunderbirds put on a display as well as several other multi million dollar jets. I think the least expensive was around 18.7 million. The most expensive was the B2 Stealth Bomber. This was also the coolest air craft at the air show.

Gotta go, just about time to head to work. Have a good day. Remember this about the military jets in conflict, "once you hear them it is too late".

We're back! After a little delay due to network configurations, poor reception quality and overall play. Hopefully I will be able to update regularly now. We have spent the last three weekends at Grandma Karen and Grandpa Nick's Fort Lauderdale Beach condo and as you can tell, a fair amount of time at the beach. So much in fact, Parker Anne is turning into a sand monster. Only moments later her entire face would be covered. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture. Felt it was better to get the sand off. Anyhow, I will be adding more beach photos later including ones from the Fort Lauderdale Air & Sea Show.

Yes, that's right. That is Parker Anne and I passing through the Presidential Gates in Key West. For those you who are not familiar with these gates, I''ll fill you in. First of all the gates are circa 1906. Up until the last ten years or so they were only to be opened for visiting U.S. Presidents. The last was Kennedy in 1962, when he came to Key West during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In recent years they have been opened for Secretary of State Colin Powell while he was in Key West holding peace talks. Those of you who were at Julie and mines wedding might remember the Little White House was on lockdown up until 45 minutes to the start of our wedding ceremony. Our guests almost had to pass through metal detectors in order to participate. I had actually hoped Colin Powell would have stuck around for the wedding. Anyway, back to the gates. On this Sunday morning in late January 2007 (notice the shorts for all you northerners), Julie, Parker and I were out for our morning breakfast and walk. Wouldn't you know the luck, the gates were open. Being opportunistic I had Julie take several shots. I don't know why people were walking by, wondering what we were doing. Perhaps they didn't know the history behind these gates. I'm sure some of you are quite bored of this by now, heck most haven't even probably read this far. For those of you who have though congratulations, maybe with a little luck they'll be open for you when you come to visit.

Pictured here we see Parker Anne touching a horseshoe crab for the first time. Pay no attention to the guy wearing the fluffy shirt. While I was hard at work on 1/15/07, Julie and Parker stopped by to bring me lunch. After lunch the three of us took a stroll through the Key West Aquarium showing Parker the first place we met. While she thought that to be a cool story, Parker showed a greater interest in the horseshoe crab. As you can see, she was pointing out the location of the primary set of eyes. Or more specifically, covering one of the eyes. Anyhow, enjoy the photo.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are still here. Have been very busy; what with work, my MGB, the boat, the house, traveling, ohh I almost forgot, Parker Anne. How silly of me. Parker is now 6.5 months old and full of life. I have attached a photo of Parker Anne wearing Julie's now lost pair of Versace sunglasses. The next pair will be faux-sace's. I took my maternity leave in early September. At that time, I decided to book tickets for the THREE of us to visit family in Toronto. This would be Parker's first plane ride and her first trip to another country. Clinton and I are pleased to report she did great. This of course is the first of many plane trips to many countries. This trip was especially important to me as I would be introducing Parker Anne to her Great Grandma, Aunt Maureen, Uncle Michael and cousins Ilana and Jordan. Bubie is not only "great" by title, but actually a great person as well.

Anyhow, we spent 4 nights in Toronto and took Parker all around the city. We went to the Greek district for dinner, Eaton center, and Unionville. On the first day in Toronto, we went with Bubie and Ilana to Old Navy for Parker's first major shopping trip (thanks Bubie, Ilana, and Poinciana Elementary School staff). The next day, we went downtown and Aunt Maureen and Uncle Michael bought Parker Anne a backpack for her to sit in for our travels. We will be officially breaking it in this summer on a trip to Bar Harbor, Maine to visit more family and a return trip to Toronto. Parker will be just over a year old at that time.

Thanks so much, Micheal and Maureen for having us! Also, the backpack will be well used.

On July 29th, 2006, our cousin Sarah tied the knot. Her husband is a fine young man named Shane. Congratulations and welcome to the family. Well, as our family gatherings go, the Curry's made the trip from as far south as Key West, Fl and as north as Bar Harbor, Me. Afterall, how could we not attend when it was stated by Sarah, " I made to all of their weddings, they better make it to mine." So with that we made travel plans.

After we all finally arrived by July 28th, the kids settled at Lori Ann's house and the parents down hill at the KING'S. On the morning of July 29th we were called into action, so five of us loaded Cherie's Toyota Corolla and darted down to the hall to set up for the nights festivities. Upon completing the setup Autumn headed off to get her hair did and we well, we plotted a course Lowes. Thank goodness for the GPS otherwise we would have spent countless hours taking back roads trying to find our destinations.

Well after cleaning out Lori's fridge for lunch we got ready for the wedding ceremony and reception to follow. As you can tell from the picture, Sarah made a beautiful bride. So with the wedding ceremony behind us, the what appeared to be more than 150 people headed to the reception for a night of food and festivities. What a night it was.

So with my last very long sentence I would like to thank Lori and Doug for their hospitality, Autumn for the dance and ride to the airport (not as bad as every made it out to seem), TT, Angie and Chelsie for the dances as well, sorry about the pinky toe again TT, Shane's family for the wonderful rehearsal dinner, the KING for the deer meatballs, my brothers and their wives, sister and husband, the little man, mom and dad, extended cousins in Pa and the crew from Maryland for a wonderful time. On Saturday night, July 1, we went out for dinner with friends. Later that evening, Clinton and I went for a long walk around the neighborhood and out onto North Roosevelt. We then started watching movies at home.
At about 2 am, we were watching Eight-Legged Freaks, and I decided it was stupid. So, I rolled over and went to sleep. At that very moment, my water broke. There was no mistaking this! It was like a 2-liter bottle of soda was uncapped inside me and wash pouring out quickly. I was concerned for weeks up to that point that I wouldn'y know whether or not my water broke, but there was no mistaking it. I am in fact glad it happened at home and not out in public.
We went to the hospital, when I stood up getting out of the car, there was another gusher that leaked its way into my shoes! I then had to walk into the hospital like that. At least no explanation was necessary! Because my contractions were so far apart, I was sent home.
This actually worked out well, as I needed to flat iron my hair, and really didn't want all of my pictures to be with frizzy hair. We went back to the hospital at 5:30 when conditions at home began to go down hill quickly. It went from labor watch to warning!
Once at the hospital, I started debating the epidural the first time the contraction was so strong that my foot started to fold in half. I was scared of the needle, the IV, an dthe cathiter, but the thought of these contractions getting stronger and more frequent was more than I could fathom at that point. Not to mention, indefinite timing. So, the epidural and all of the dreaded things to go wth it appeared to be the lesser of the evils.
While the epidural was being put in, I cut off Clinton's circulation in one of his arms and he had to sit down. I also scratched him up pretty badly. To make a long story shorter, the epidural made everything bearable. Twelve hours later, what felt like a tree being pulled from me was actually an angel. Parker Anne was born! This photo was taken back in mid May- when I didn't think I could possibly get any bigger... not the first time I have been wrong. I am due July 2, and many thought I was not going to make it that far. But, it is June 26 and I am still pregnant. My doctor wants to induce next week if I do not have the baby by that time. It has been an unforgettable time, but I will be happy to have my body back to myself again...

I give so much credit to any woman who could do another round of this! I am not proud of this picture, but many have asked to see a pregnant picture. As you can see, I have a long road ahead to get back into shape!

In my 34th week of pregnancy, I was advised to stay home and limit my activities since I started to dialate at such an early week. So, Clinton stayed home with me as much as he could so that I didn't need to exert myself. During that week, he transformed a spare room into this awesome bedroom for Parker Anne.

He made the closet resemble a conch-style home complete with gingerbread trim, a faux porch, and a galvalume roof! The room turned out very girlie- so we hope all of the ultra-sounds have lead us to the right conclusion. If not, there will be some quick changes. Dragon boat update. While Saturday was a beautiful day, it was a windy day and for anyone who has ever been in a Dragon boat can tell you, that's not good. After one boat on the very first race sank the organizers dropped the teams from 20 people to 16 and removed the dragon head and tails from the boats, all due to the chop. Our team, "Wreck Ashore" made a great showing and though we did not win any of our races, we never finished last (or sank). This was a great event, we ate, drank, got sun burned and raised alot of money for Habitat for Humanity which by the way has repaired over 80 homes locally due to flooding from Hurricane Wilma. If you ever have the chance to participate in one of these races, I highly recommend you do it. Just remember to stretch.

Julie bought me a refractor telescope for christmas and while experimenting I decided to place my digital camera to the lens and start snapping. Today, myself and nineteen other "Wreckers" participated in a practice session for our Dragon boat race on Saturday the 13th. The event is held to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Our team, "Wreck Ashore" is competing against Draggin' As in a 400 meter race. Todays practice run was tiring but I'm going into the weekend confident we'll take the cup. Julie and Sabrina dawned hardhats for a recent visit to the soon to be completed Poinciana Elementary School. Construction will have taken just over a year, with a completion date set for July 28, 2006. Monroe County is in the process of replacing all the schools probably finishing within ten years. I will say I am going to miss my old elementary school.

In addition to visiting Dubrovnik and Greece last July, we also spent time in Italy as well. This trip was nearly interrrupted by one of the first hurricanes of the season. Instead of leaving from Key West airport, we left from Miami International in an effort to not loose any time on a trip I had spent months planning. We arrived in Rome and ran to catch our next plane, which left in less than an hour . Good thing we went carry-on only and didn't bother with checked bags. We knew we'd be on a tight schedule. After running through Rome airport, we finally got to our terminal and caught the flight out to Naples. We were in Naples last year, and we had no intentions of staying there. So, once at he Naples airport, we ran to catch the next available bus out. We were headed to the Amalfi Coast! We caught a bus to Sorrento, then changed buses to take us the rest of the way. It took 3 hours from the time we left Naples airport until we finally pulled into the city of Amalfi. I thought the bus ride was amazing, with lots of hairpin turns all the time on the side of high cliffs over looking the water below. While I was sight seeing, poor Clinton was getting sicker by the moment. He said that it would be different if he was the one who was driving. I personally felt better about the bus driver taking us as he was used to these driving conditions and all. Besides, I remember reading in a travel book that these drivers of the Amalfi Coast are either good, or dead. In all actuality, we could have taken a ferry right from Naples with a 90 minute journey, but hind-sight is 20/20- they tell me. While in this part of southern Italy we stayed in Amalfi, but visited the Isle of Capri, Positano, and Ravello. Positano was probably the prettiest in my opinion, but also pricier than Amalfi. We loved our hotel room with high ceilings and a balcony that open up to the pier. After a good night's sleep, we rented a boat to explore the coast on our own. We paid for the boat in cash and left no identity. Amazing, because in America you need to sign so may waivers and leave so much in case of damage. We had so much fun cruising around on our own. The waters of the Mediterranean (more specifically, the Gulf of Salerno) were deep blue and clear. However, too cold to swim for long periods. We had lunch in Positano at a restaurant I saw on the travel channel called Chez Black. The seafood in this region was so tasty! The next day we took a boat tour that took us to the Emerald Grotto in Amalfi and then to the Isle of Capri. Unfortnately, the waters were too rough to go into the Blue Grotto. I was disappoined, but we spent a few hours in Capri. We hiked about 45 minutes from the marina to Capri town. It was a rough climb with sets of stairs that seemed only to lead to more sets! Once there I noticed that there were lots of elderly and out of shape tourists walking around. We then noticed the funicular train that took people up. Actually though, the views of the landscape while hiking were the best part of this island. Every book I read made this place out to be spectacular. Both Clinton and I thought that it was another over-priced tourist trap. There were not many local stores, but instead Prada and stores along that line. Wouldn't you know, I did not have a spare 850 euro to spend on a purse! Instead of the cruise, we perhaps would have been better to take a trip to see the Greek ruins of Paestum. This will be something we will need to catch on the next trip. On our last night we went to the city above Amalfi, called Ravello to have dinner and then walk around. This city was beautiful, too. We saw a lot of it that night, but contemplated returning the next day before leaving the area for Rome. On our last morning, we checked out of the hotel, but left our luggage. I didn't feel comfortable leaving out travel documents (passports, train and plane tickets) in an unsecured area. So, we took them with us. We could have left everthing in the room, but I was not sure if we' d make it back on time to check out. It was a hot day and we could have rented some chairs and an umbrella and relaxed at the beach before leaving. That would have been the better choice... hind sight is 20/20. We took the bus to Ravello. While getting off the bus, we neglected to take the backpack with all of our travel documents. This was something Clinton realized while we were waiting to catch the bus back to Amalfi- it had been hours (I stand corrected, 35 minutes)! To make matters even worse, a police officer rode by to tell us that there would be no more buses as the transit system was striking all across Italy! We got his attention and explained our terrifying situation in severely broken Italian. He told us to wait where we were and he would ride to Amalfi to see if a green backpack had been turned in. It seemed like an eternity of blinking back tears, as I was imagining our vacation- that took months to plan so meticulously unraveling. The flight passes were nonrefundable and non redeamable! The officer came back and told us to go to the bus staion in Amalfi, they could help us there. Since buses were no longer an option, we had to take a cab. The bus was 1 euro each. The cab fare was 30 euro! Once in Amalfi, we went to the bus station and explained again to another official what had happened. After more waiting, a miracle happened. Clinton went with a driver and came back holding the backpack. I am sure Clinton thanked him and left him a good tip. To our relief, everything was in there untouched. To think that we could have had a relaxing morning at the beach...That was an agonizing few hours but a great story we will not soon forget! Enjoy the photos of Italy 2005 to the right. Caio!

Say hello to Sophie. The newest, oldest member of the Curry automobile fleet. Sophie is a 1980, Limited Edition MGB, built in the UK. When I first mentioned to Julie that I wanted to buy the MG last week, she bit her tongue and assumed that this, like many other I want to's, would pass. So when the vehicle was dropped off Saturday morning I asked Julie if she would like to go for a ride. She said yes. So after 30 minutes of cruising she turned to me and said, "you know, at first I didn't think we needed this, now I know we need it." That was the answer I was hoping for. Well, Sophie has some, although very little rust, the turn signals work at there leisure and the radio doesn't work. Sophie, however only has 52,000 miles (we put 75 on this weekend), has had one owner and has had regular maintenance and waxing. We are looking forward to enjoying many years with Sophie, hopefully she feels the same.

Last July, we took a trip abroad stating in Italy and then making our way to Croatia and Greece before heading back home. After a few nights in southern Italy, we took a train to Rome and hopped a plane for a 1 hour flight to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Many people think that all of Croatia is still war-torn from the war with Serbia back in the EARLY 90'S. However, it is emerging again as a popular destination for travelers all over the world. Being our first trip to Croatia, we settled on spending time just in Dubrovnik, as we had read about it already and had seen so many beautiful pictures. Flying into Dubrovnik was amazing. We got awesome views from the air of the walled city. These old walls date back to the 1300's. Although 70% of the city was bombed in the war, UNESCO has declared a World Heritage sight and has restored the city almost entirely. The old city was beautiful and full of friendly locals. One of our favorites was a woman who invited us to eat at her cafe our first night. When we asked her what she would tell people on vacation to do, she said to eat, drink, make love and go to the beach. So, that sounded good to us. We took a cruise around the Elafiti Islands where we hiked to a medieval church over 800 years old. Annual services are still held there for dedicated church goers as it is a 55 minute hike up hill with unsure footing. That night, we ate in the cloister of a church. Clinton found this to be remarkable, as up to that point he had battled many demons in cloisters while playing video games. Although I found the local cuisine to be tasty, Clinton found it to be very heavy. We wanted to swim, but the waters of the Adriatic were too cold for south Floridians- and this was mid- July! On our last night in Dubrovnik, we went sea kayaking at sunset. Again, amazing. There are other places we would like to see on the Dalmatian Coast, but that will need to be for another trip. It is no wonder why Dubrovnik is called the Jewel of the Adriatic. Centuries ago, it was a center for ship building and admired by many including Richard the Lion heart on his return from his third Crusade. Clinton and I are admirers as well. Last July, we took a trip of mythological proportions to Greece and two fascinating Greek islands. We also spent minimal time in Athens, enough to visit the Acropolis to see the Parthenon and the ancient agora. We then ferried to Hydra, an island 90 minutes off of Athens in the Saronic Gulf. The amazing thing about Hydra is that the only motor vehicles are 3 garbage trucks. The only modes of transportation are pedestrian traffic and donkeys. It was a beautiful, quaint island. The next adventure we had in Greece took us by plane to the island of Santorini. Our hotel was right on the caldera in the village of Firostefani. While in Santorini, we walked the volcano, swam to the hot springs, visited the ancient ruins of Akrotiri, and rented an ATV instead of a rental car to explore the island on our own. Our exploration on ATV took us to Red Beach. Although we were told Greece would not be a good place to spend a lot of time, both Clinton and I beg to differ. We enjoyed our time there so much, and thought the prices of food were cheap in comparison to other countires we have been to. We pay more for a lousy gyro at Miami Subs than the real deal in Greece! Italy is a great place to visit, but Greece was awesome! As there is so much more to see there, we plan to go back and show this awesome place to our daughter to be- the lucky gal she is! Just returned from a wonderful trip from Toronto, Ontario. Highly recommend the Danforth District, wonderful Greek food.
